Good morning, Spalding County!

Something that's been on my mind lately, I want to launch some Griffin Grapevine merch. Not just t-shirts for the sake of t-shirts, but something that actually captures what makes this community special and gives folks a way to wear that pride on their sleeve (literally). I've been sketching out a few designs on my end, playing around with ideas that nod to Griffin's history, our downtown, and the little things that make living here feel like home. But honestly? Some of y'all have way better ideas than I do.

So here's where I need your help: if you've got a clever design idea, a slogan, a piece of Griffin lore that belongs on a shirt, hat, mug, or tote bag, send it my way. Just hit reply to this email and let me know what you'd actually want to wear or gift to a friend. The best ideas are going to come from y'all, not from me staring at a blank Canva screen. Let's make something Griffin can be proud of.

Porsche Quietly Lands 806,000-SF Warehouse in Spalding County

Porsche has leased roughly 806,000 square feet at River Park 9, located at 801 Logistics Parkway, according to Atlanta Business Chronicle reporting and commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield. The deal ranks among metro Atlanta's largest industrial leases of Q1 2026. The warehouse will support Porsche's Southeast dealer network, placing Spalding County squarely on a critical I-75 logistics corridor. Company and local officials have not yet released a move-in timeline, hiring figures, or build-out details. Those specifics are expected through permitting records and job postings in coming months. The lease comes just days after Prime, Inc.'s $160 million investment announcement at the High Falls 16 Business Center, underscoring the county's accelerating industrial profile.

Griffin Gives Back Earth Day Cleanup Returns Saturday

The City of Griffin's Environmental Council hosts the 2026 Griffin Gives Back Earth Day Cleanup this Saturday, April 25, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with volunteers focused on the Potato Creek Watershed. Check-in is at the City of Griffin Stormwater Office. The initiative launched in 2025 and removed more than 19,000 pounds of litter across several community cleanups last year. No experience required; volunteers bring work gloves and sturdy shoes, and the city supplies tools and trash bags. It's a meaningful morning out for families, neighbors, and anyone who wants to give the watershed a helping hand.

Spalding County Adds Burn Ban as Drought Worsens

Spalding County has joined a growing list of north and central Georgia counties enacting local burn bans as drought conditions worsen and wildfire activity climbs across the state. County officials had added Spalding to that list by Thursday, April 23, while Georgia continued battling major fires in the southern part of the state and state forestry officials warned wildfire counts had already risen above the five-year average. In Spalding County, 100% of residents are now affected by drought conditions, with March ranking as the county’s 32nd driest in 132 years and the January-through-March stretch coming in as the 16th driest start to a year on record. The ban is a practical response to a simple problem: the landscape is dry, fire risk is elevated, and local leaders do not want one stray ember turning into the county’s next emergency.
